Meet The Owners of Zoe’s Knit Studio!

Sule Kaya
Coming from Turkey, a country known for its arts and handcrafts, it's no surprise that Sule Kaya has made a career in knitwear design. Although her grandmother and mother are expert knitters and crocheters, Kaya actually learned how to knit and crochet through instinct and observation.
It had never occurred to Kaya or her parents that her talents in knitwear would ever become a viable career. Therefore, she attended a college in Los Angeles and studied economics and international business. In 2007, she had the opportunity to work for a Los Angeles based haute couture design duo-Rodarte, knitting pieces for their line. Currently working for these designers, the collaboration marked a huge leap for her career as an exclusive knitwear designer. Kaya soon began designing for Amber Sakai-Los Angeles-based designer, philanthropist, and 9th generation Californian, Sterling Ruby-leading contemporary artist whose work has been presented in solo exhibitions throughout the globe and Jonathan Saunders-New York-based Scottish designer. In addition, she has designed for many costume designers involved in feature films and commercials like Transformers, Black swan, house bunny, hotel Artemis, got milk, and numerous others.

Belinda Yapici
Raised in Istanbul, a city with rich and diverse architecture, Yapici, Turkish-born Armenian, had a passion for interior design. In order to pursue her dreams, she decided to move to Los Angeles where she studied interior and graphic design. While continuing her studies, Yapici took an interest in fashion and started taking courses in sewing, knitting and crochet. While her love and interest for fashion was growing she met Kaya in 2018.
Their love of knitting, crochet and their common cultural background brought the two together.

Since then Yapici and Kaya have been creating beautiful pieces reflecting their talent and creativity.
